Household Hazardous Waste Days. As in years past Albany residents will have multiple chances to dispose of their household hazardous waste in an environmentally safe way. Residents must pre-register by calling toll- free 1-800-494-CARE (2273). Only residents of the City of Albany are eligible to participate. However, small businesses that generate less than 32 gallons a month of hazardous waste may also take advantage of this opportunity, but will be charged a small fee. Everyone must pre-register to be admitted.
Those Phonebooks! There has been a lot of press in the last few days about the proliferation of phone books to residents of the City of Albany. Phone books are recyclable and should not be placed in the trash. In order to recycle them plastic bags must be removed and the books should be placed in their recycling bins.
